The latest news!
April 2019 We have been exploring paper in Science and we ended the Unit with a few exciting investigations. First we were identifying what makes paper easy or not easy to fold. We made a paper weaving and even learned how to fold paper to make an envelope. To conclude the unit we made our own recycled paper! In Math, we are becoming stronger and stronger in our number sense. We are now adding and subtracting and even making our own story problems. We are modeling how to do these in many different ways including using counting bears, tens frames, drawing, number likes, number bonds and part-part-whole. In Fundations, we have learned the digraphs, sh, ch, th, wh, and -ck. We are becoming masters at blending and tapping out CVC words. In Reading, we are using all of our Super Powers to be the best readers we can be, We are looking for sight words wearing disguises (endings like -ing, -s, or -ed) and predicting what will come next. We continue to use picture clues as well. Our writing has become even better than ever, We are writing true One Time When stories. We are making great beginnings and adding lots of detail to the middle of our stories. We are learning to close and give it an ending too. All of our sight words have been introduced and the class has been doing amazing at remembering them. I am so proud of the growth this group of kinders has made so far. Thank you for all of your help at home!
